What’s worse than being hacked? Being fake! #MTVHack

large 0comments

Have you ever watched a concert or any other performance that was so bad, that you felt bad for the performer, you empathise with them… because of how pitiful it is!
That’s how I felt watching MTV’s fake hack stunt yesterday…

Here’s more details about this case study “Marketing Don’ts”. Earlier that day, Burger King’s twitter account (@BurgerKing) was hacked. Mostly it was harmless, and I would argue that it created positive PR for Burger King. The photo profile photo was changed for a Mc Donald’s one, and the comments included things like:

Pepsi does the Harlem Shake

It has been on the interweb for a few days now, and it’s already a HIT!
The Harlem Shake, this dance that was initiated by some Australian Randomness aficionados flamed up the social networks and has been imitated by offices and people from around the world… We’ve seen the Norwegian Army doing it, The progressive online news show The Young Turks and many other random lovers!

But Pepsi is the first brand to use it to its advantage with a video that shakes up its drinks! Not sure you want to drink those afterwards!

We might do one in the office today… But I still have some Lobbying to do. Maybe you could help me lobby… so Like this if you want to see a video of Mintia Team going wild!

Is Crowdsourcing the real winner of Super Bowl XLVII?

crash-the-super-bowl 0comments

This year’s edition of the Super Bowl was a very unique one. Not only because the per minute price for a commercial spot was the highest in history, not even for the fact that it had the highest viewing peek with over 164 million people tuning in to at least six minutes of the game, neither for the reunion of the Destiny’s Child which might or might not have caused a 34 minutes power outage (a lot of electricity needed to lip sync the songs?? Zing!) making this “Blackout Bowl” the longest running with 4h14min. Not saying that none of that played into making this SB unique, but what we want to point here is the amazing number of companies who decided to run campaigns based in part or only on crowdsourcing!

The Disappearing Package: Eco friendly design

Sans titre 0comments

The incredible and ever increasing amount of domestic waste caused by useless packaging is one of the main ecological problems that we’ll have to tackle pretty soon.

Design student and packaging design freelancer Aaron Mickelson realized that. He presented a Masters thesis that is as ambitious in the intent as brilliant in the execution: “The Disappearing Package“.

The idea is to find ways to get rid of the extra paper, cardboard that has no other use than brand recognition.

The Super Bowl: Sporting event or Marketing event?

Mintia 0comments

Why not both? We at Mintia definitely don’t mind watching all those cuts in between two adverts!
Truth is, this IS the single most viewed sporting event in the USA but can any of you recall the winner of last year’s game? On the other hand can you recall the Terry Tate Rebook ad, where he’s tackling people to increase office productivity? Bet you can!

Mother of Keyboards !

Picture-2 1 comment

You know how they say “Designers know what we need better than we do”? Well here is a great example of that.

Maxim Mezentsev and Aleksander Suhih designed this amazing E-inkey Keyboard concept. It goes a little like this: you can choose ink screens as keybord buttons and can change the layouts or customize the keys depending on which software you are using. On the pictures below you can see an example of the display on the board under Ai, but really the potential for this is huge.
